GIVING BACK AND CREATING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH DANCE

The Breakthrough Movement is a growing community of passionate artists from across the US, Canada and Guatemala, who have come together for a common goal: to live and dance in a way that inspires change and progress within our own local communities as part of a global initiative.

Since our inception in 2013, The Breakthrough Movement has operated as a not-for-profit corporation.  We rely on donations from people and businesses, in addition to our fundraising efforts, who believe in our vision and have the means to support our vision and fund our projects.  Our fiscal sponsor, The Field NYC, is a 501(c)3 organization which we use to receive donations and provide IRS receipts on our behalf.  Check out www.thefield.org for more information.

Ways you can get involved that DON'T cost any money!

1. Follow us on your social media outlet of choice (or all of them) and please share our website with your networks!  Also, keep an eye out for our LIVE VIDEO FEEDS via Facebook!

If learning about The Breakthrough Movement brings one of your own connections to mind, perhaps someone you feel might be interested or able to support us with a monetary donation, we would truly love to be introduced!   We operate in accordance with a simple principal: together we'll succeed, divided we are nowhere.   In essence, we believe that we am looking for just ONE person, or company, who can give us the first big push that we need to establish a stable financial cultural through which we can operate!

2. Dance Challenge.  YES, anyone can do it!  The more the merrier!  Plus, public dancing doesn't cost anything!

3. Help us GO VIRAL.

The more 'viral' our videos are, the more chance we have of Ellen Degeneres or Steve Harvey, or some other major philanthropic celebrity to see one!  Our Times Square Flash Mob video (seen below) has almost 35,000 views on Facebook!  We are also pushing the 'viral' potential of our Collaboration TOUR Promo Video and Rotary Club Guatemala's Pretty Stove Promo Video.  Please visit our Facebook Page & Share!

4. Goods & Services Donation.  Donate what you can! 

Our fiscal sponsor, The Field, a not-for-profit, tax exempt, 501(c)3 organization, is able to provide tax-deductible receipts for goods and services in addition to monetary donations.  For example, if you are a dance studio owner, you could donate an hour, or multiple hours, for a Breakthrough class filming session or even a workshop in your studio.  Other examples of goods/services donations would be used clothing for costumes, gift certificates or other auction-able items, building materials, office supplies, toiletry/hygiene items, etc.

Projects & Stuff we are Fundraising for...

Annual Company Reunion Workshop 2017
Since our inception in 2013, we have only been able to produce 1 project per year.  This means that we have NEVER been able to meet ALL together IN person, due to the fact that our company members live in various parts of North and Central America.  Our largest gathering was in July of 2014,

La Chopina Bonita (The Pretty Stove) | Guatemala
Rotary Club Guatemala’s Pretty Stove Project, is a philanthropic effort which has major implications to the social, economic and even physical well being of many small Guatemalan communities.  Outside of the capital city there are many families who cook their meals using an open fire.  Due the general construction of most homes combined with a fluctuating national economy, these open cook fires have become a growing concern.  

$30 Builds 1 Pretty Stove!  Only $30 buys the materials to construct ONE Pretty Stove, a Rotary Club Guatemala Project!

FAQ

What will your donations ACTUALLY do???

  • Budget Buffer to make up the difference in economy between countries.  Not only are we dealing with different currencies   *Including rates on classes, choreography, performance tickets, etc.
  • Roundtrip Airfare for company members and apprentices.  
  • Accommodations, Salary and Per Diem for company members.  Yes, we like to pay our dancers!  Creating paid work for our company members is a primary goal of our company.
  • Local Travel expense.  Getting from place to place all together and on time will be a challenge.  The easiest, most efficient and affordable means of getting around locally is via taxi cab.  
  • Production Costs - Theatre rental in Guatemala City and
    Antigua, rehearsal space, insurance, etc.
