Who is ‘Spaghetti’ Minniti?

I lived in NYC from 2005-2010 and many of the dancers I trained with during that time had nicknames that identified them within the community. Booogie, Bounce, St. Izzy, Ready and Large were all stage name’s of dancers with whom I rocked during those years. At the beginning of that journey I remember being really bummed about not having a cool nickname 😥 but after a little thought 🤔 quickly realized that the ‘Italian rhyme’ for my last name would actually work perfectly 😁.

And so officially, Garrett ‘Spaghetti’ Minniti was born. People have called me Spaghetti for as long as I can remember (see FUN FACT below). The fact that I love to cook and that my hair often looks like a plate of pasta 😅 also seem to work perfectly with the character 😉

Fun Facts About Spaghetti

  1. I am 43 years old. I was born in Culver City, Ca in November of 1981. This makes me a Scorpio ♏️

  2. My senior year job was ‘bourree-ing’ down Main Street USA as a 🩰Ballet Dancing Hippopotamus 🦛 in Disneyland’s 45th Anniversary Parade of the Stars.

  3. My childhood nicknames usually incorporated some sort of rhyming remix of my name. ‘Parrot Confetti,’ ‘Carrot Spaghetti’ and the obvious ‘Spaghetti Minniti,’ were born for me in grade school. Although, bereft by my mother if I did not mention her personal nickname for me from my childhood, ‘Coconut Head.’

  4. 👨‍🍳 I love to cook the comfort food of my childhood (Spaghetti) for people who have never experienced homemade spaghetti gravy (yes, gravy).

  5. I am the Co-founder and Co-Artistic Director of 2 NYC based arts organizations. The Breakthrough Movement and MPower Dance Workshops - both of which, although different in application, have similar visions which include creating opportunity, community and connection for artists and their families in various parts of the Arts and Entertainment industries 🎭🎨🎥
